Mt.Matsukura (Matukura Castle Ruins)

The Matsukura Castle was located on the Matsukura summit (856m hight)in the west of Takayama basin. The castle was the highest altitude in Japan.
It was constructed by Mitsuki Yoritsuna who have influenced on Hida in terminal 1579 (Tensho era 6 years) The Castle was loaded the stone wall using the latest technique in those days onto every direction. People called the castle as ‘An impregnable castle’. However, when the castle received an attack from Nagachika Kanamori in response to a command of Hideyoshi Toyotomi in 1585 (Tensho era 13 years), it was set fire by the betrayal of the vassal and destroyed.
It past only six years since the castle has constructed. Only stone walls piled up highly become the past trace now. The views of the high mountain Basin from the ruins of a castle and the mountains of Hida including Mts. Hida (the Northern Alps) are superb ones.
